Study Aim
How is the brain different in children with and without a concussion? We are doing this study to find out how small brain injuries affect the brain of children and youth in order to then design targeted and evidence-based rehabilitation programs.
Who can participate?
Children/adolescents aged 11-17 years with either:
• A recent concussion (<3 months)
– OR –
• No previous concussion
What is involved?
You will come to the Brain Behaviour lab at UBC for up to 3 sessions. Each session will last up to 2 hours. We will use brain stimulation (i.e., transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS)), pictured below, to test the brain’s reactivity and other measures to determine overall health. We will collect information from both you and your parents. We will also collect general information such as your birthdate and the injury you sustained. Travel expenses will be covered.
